We are delighted to announce the appointment of Rob Scholefield as our new Associate Director of Green Spaces.
After studying Countryside Management at the Welsh Agricultural College, Rob’s career has included a variety of practical and managerial roles in arboriculture, horticulture and estate management, overseeing large property portfolios and developing processes to effectively manage these to a high standard. With over 25 years experience in the housing sector, including involvement in the design, development and handover of new estates, Rob’s knowledge and experience will further strengthen our estates team.
Rob said: “I’m incredibly excited to be joining Fexco Property Services at a time when green space delivery on new sites is being massively ramped up through Biodiversity Net Gain (BNG). Fexco are committed to being the leading agent for green space management and I’m looking forward to developing our offer so that we continue to be the natural agent of choice for estate management.
“We want to be involved in the BNG process from start to finish, working with partners from the outset to ensure that the ‘green thread’ runs from initial site survey through installation to the delivery of the 30-year plans. Having a consistent presence during the design, build and management phases will maximise project success and ensure that the potential habitat and species gains are realised on site.”
In addition to BNG, Rob will be involved with the management of SuDS, play areas and trees. Keen to emphasise the benefits of trees as an asset Rob commissioned the first project by a UK housing provider to quantify tree benefits, using a system called i-Tree Eco to calculate the values of carbon capture, pollution removal and stormwater interception, as well as a monetary replacement value.
“I’ve always championed green spaces as a crucial asset on so many levels – as well as environmental and economic benefits they provide space for recreation and sport, a pleasing outlook for residents and a venue for community interaction. I’m really looking forward to visiting sites to meet residents and new colleagues.”
Helen Roberts, Director of Client Services said “Rob is an exciting addition for our group. His experience speaks for itself but his warmth, passion and willingness to help us make change is going to be what makes this partnership work. I am delighted to have him on board.’
